It isn't the Moon!

Several people have asked me this week if the goofiness they are feeling is due to a full moon. Nope, the moon isn’t full right now…the culprits lie in a tight conjunction between Mars, the communicator, and Uranus, the quick change artist, both in Aries. When these two come together communications are subject to sudden stops and starts. You can also hear people making outlandish statements and wild promises and there can be a great deal of aggressive speech going on. All of this is courtesy of the wild energy and rebelliousness of Uranus. Mars will move out soon so this won’t last much more than a few days. But then the full moon will be in full swing! 

Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth

The Queen of England has a birthday coming up - April 21st to be exact. She has alot of interesting aspects in her chart. One that has to bring a chuckle is her 5th house, the house of children.
She has Gemini on the cusp of the 5th house and its ruler, Gemini, is in a tight conjucnction with Uranus. Uranus of course is the quick change artist, the quirky, freedom lover who will do and say anything on the spur of the moment to shake things up. Uranus rebels against rules and convention and paves his own path no matter what. Gemini is no slouch in this area either. Gemini is the air sign of duality - very quixotic and very much a creature of change and movement. Is it any wonder she had - well let's say a flock of kids who are, shall we say, a handful?

Mercury is no longer retrograded but watch Mars

Yes, Mercury has gone direct again and did so on April 4th - so sign those contracts, write those letters - Mercury won't bother you anymore. Not until she goes retrograde again but that is a while off yet. Mars, however, is now retrograded and in the rather docile sign of Virgo. Mars only goes retrograde about once every 2 years and 2 months so it is a pretty rare occurrence. Mars is stereotypical masculine energy and drive. When in retrograde our energy is diffuse, confused. Remember the old commercial about "our get up and go has gone up and went?" That is Mars retrograde! Virgo Mars makes us feel a bit hypercritical - picky and perfectionistic! We can also feel a bit hypochondriacal and worry about health and nutrition. It is a time of saying "I should start to diet more or walk more or..." Virgo vibrates to the sixth house which is also the house of day to day work so expect some increased nitpicking between co-workers at this. Because of the retrograde the energy will be inward and not clearly defined. It is the best time to watch your back! Mars will be going direct again in a few days - so pay attention to the energy shift. All of those inner annoyances will either dissipate or come to head!

I just love relgious holidays that follow the stars...!

Happy Easter and Happy Passover. I do just love religious holidays that have their roots in the movements of planetary bodies! Easter is calculated as the first Sunday after the paschal full moon that occurs on or after the vernal equinox. If the full moon falls on a Sunday, then Easter is the following Sunday. The holiday can occur anywhere between March 22 and April 25. Of course, since Passover came first it too follows an astronomical path. Passover begins on the night of a full moon after the northern vernal equinox.

While you are enjoying your Easter meal remember that the word derives from Eoestre the pagan celebration in honor of the young goddess who would shower d the countryside with eggs during the vernal equinox.

Which ever Spring celebration you partake in have fun and remember they are wonderful connections to the universe and the stars above us.
