Jupiter on the MOVE

On July 16, that enormous planet Jupiter that is astrologically the sign of expansion and growth is moving out of Cancer, the uber Mommy constellation, into the fire sign of Leo, the sign of creativity and self-expression. What a great time! Think of it – we are combining the sign of seemingly never ending growth and discovery with the fiery Leo energy. We should all be running around working on making our most creative impact!

A wee bit of caveat here folks. When I began my study of Astrology, many people thought that Jupiter was the most beneficent sign in the Zodiac – it could bring no shadow. However, all of that expansion – all of the bigness – does have a downside. When Jupiter was transiting my sixth house, the house of health, I was as sick as a dog. I even have a good friend who was born with Jupiter in the sixth and she gets every weird illness going and gets it longer and worse than anyone else. It is a classic case of too much of a good thing.

Jupiter rules Sagittarius, a fire sign, and it is now transiting a fire sign constellation – so there is a danger of too much, “me first, you later energy,” where every way is emoting and no one is listening.  Leo starts her journey in the ninth house – the house she naturally vibrates too – and in conjunction with the Sun (ruled by Leo.) The ninth is the house of foreign affairs – so hold onto your hats – that arena will get even goofier in the weeks to come.

As always, please remember we can use this energy for benefit too. Be creative, make those contacts, work on that book, paint that scenery, – go the extra mile to make the world a prettier, more creative place!

Full Moon Time!

The full Moon this month will be on June 13 at will take place at 22 degrees Sagittarius.   I love Sagittarius full Moons perhaps because my North Node is in Sagittarius. However, it is more than that. It is June, everything is in bloom, and everything is growing and expanding. Isn’t that the essence of Sag: growth, breaking our borders, reaching beyond our roots?  I always think about Sagittarius as a shooting arrow into the world – just like the flower and vegetable seeds are sprouting outward and upward.

If you have Sagittarius prominently placed in your chart – either North Node, rising sign, sun sign, use this time to feel that energy. Where do you have to get out of your safe zone? Where do you need to grow? Where are you stagnating?

The positive aspects of Sagittarius are optimism, adventurousness, generosity, and intellectualism. Use them!

It’s June, it is a Sagittarius full Moon – go for it! Grow.

Major Gemini-Sagitarrian Activitiy TODAY!

The question of today is where is Gemini at 27 degrees in your chart?  Let me explain.

Every year at this time, the Sun passes over the Galactic Center - the rotational point of Milky Way. The Center is at 27 degrees Sagittarius - so 27 degrees into the constellation of Sagittarius is the center of the Milky Way.  (The Sun is at 25 degrees Sagittarius now and will be fully at 27 degrees on Thursday.)

Today we are going to experience a full Moon - (when the Sun and Moon are opposing one another in the sky. The Moon is "full" because it is far away from the Sun and its natural light flows uninhibited.  That full Moon is in Gemini at 27 degrees.

Gemini and Sagittarius share an astrological axis. Gemini is the ruler of our thoughts, the way we communicate. Sagittarius is where we go out into the world and explore to hone our truth and expand our knowledge. Both deal with expressing ourselves.

This is a perfect Moon placement to expand our perceptions, explore our beliefs, and examine how our mental tapes are running. From now until the Solstice on Saturday, we should be tuning into those energies to help clear out our mental cobwebs, finding, and expressing our truth!

To help this new mental energy flow even better we finally have Uranus (rebellious, new energy) out of retrograde. It is at station direct - meaning it is sort of appearing to stand still in the sky but it is not heading backwards. Use Uranus - set that goal to be honest with your thoughts and honest with others.

So back to my first question - where is Gemini at 27 degrees in your chart. That is the area where this activation vibrates most for you. For me it is in 9th house - the house of Sagittarius, which happens to be my North Node. Wow, I have no excuse not to pursue and live my truth now. I had better get to work!

Lunar Eclipse Coming - Rebels Unite :)

At 9;44 AM Eastern time on November 28th there will be a full lunar eclipse. The Moon will be in Gemini, the Sun, of course, moved into Sagittarius on Thanksgiving. That is a lot of mutable energy. Both Gemini and Sagittarius are mutable signs. Signs are either cardinal which is leadership energy, fixed which is stable and unmovable energy and mutable which is an adjustable -get along - kind of energy.

Sadly, lunar eclipses have traditionally been associated with "dark energy" - gee could it be because the Moon is a feminine energy? Solar eclipses are "male" - creating action and change. Today we look at lunar eclipses as a time for inner change - a time to go inside and explore instead of exerting outward energy.

Don't expect big revelations with this eclipse because of the mutability, however, it s a perfect time to do some evaluating of issues on the Gemini-Sagittarius axis, such as how you use your words, how you educate yourself and more importantly how you find and speak your truth.

The Moon will be in conjunction to the asteroid Lilith, the black moon, which is the ultimate rebellious woman and Jupiter, the expansive, truth seeking planet. Although Jupiter is still in retrograde* use this time to find your inner rebel and ways to express her.

Remember the saying goes, well behaved women rarely make history ---- or come into their own!

*Jupiter is the last of the big, slower, outer planets that will be shifting signs and will do so in 2013. Look forward to some interesting Jupiter energy which I will discussing in the future.

Solar Eclipse Time

The day after Thanksgiving here in the States, we will experience a solar eclipse in Sagittarius. Eclipses happen when the Sun and Moon are within one degree of each other. For those of us on the East Coast that will be 1:10 AM on November 25, when the Sun and Moon will both be at 2 degrees Sagittarius.

There is a lot of energy behind an eclipse and when in the sign of Sagittarius can help boast you on a spiritual path or just help you find your truth. Sagittarius is all about expanding out in the world and beyond in order to find personal truth. So this is a great time to work on those areas where you have been less than honest or where you feel other are being less than honest.

For some real fun - start doing this at the Thanksgiving table!

To find out where this will impact you the most you need to do a biwheel of your natal chart and the eclipse chart which is something I can whip up for you.

Nodes on the Loose

I had lunch with a friend today who has been feeling a little out of sorts. You know the feeling;  pulled one way and then another -  wanting to do something as opposed to having to do something - knowing you should be working on your business when you want to be hibernating. So being the dutiful astrologer I checked her chart before I met up with her. Sure enough her nodes were transiting one another, sort of.

Follow me here - right now the North Node is at 23 degrees Sagittarius and the South Node is 23 degrees Gemini. My friend was born with just the opposite - S Node Sag and North in Gemini - and they happen to be passing each other now. So transiting South Node is sitting on her natal North and vice versa. (Sit with it - trust me it works.)  If the South Node is our karmic identity - what we are programmed from the past - and the North is where we are going to - or should be going to, we can see the root cause of her agitation.

As the opposite Node activates her natal nodes she feels the urge to try new things (North Node) but she is hanging onto the things from the past and the fear of what would happen or could happen if she lets go of her old identity (South Node.) She feels like a push-me-pull-you llama in some ways.

It is a clash of stepping out of the old and into the new fearlessly. No small fete.
So if there are feelings of being stuck and confused it doesn't have to be but it could be a nodal transition happening.

And I promise - next week will be easier...

The North Node on the Galactic Center!

The Galactic Center is the center of the Milky Way where scientists believe there is the enormous black hole called a super massive black hole. Black holes are so dense that nothing – not even light can escape At the center of the super massive black holes exists gravitational singularity, a place where the space-time curvature becomes infinite. In essence singularity equals infinity. If you can get into the black hole at the Galactic Center, you would find a place where time and space do not exist – you would find infinity.

In the amazing string of events that is going on in the Universe these days, Neptune moving into Pisces, Uranus into Aries, the coolest to me anyway is the fact that the North Node is now sitting on the Galactic Center.

The Galactic Center of the Milky Way – our universe is 28 degrees into the constellation Sagittarius. Actually it is so big that it transverses 26 -28 degrees Sagittarius. Right now the North Node – that symbol of soul progression is at 27 degrees Sagittarius. So the marker of soul progression is sitting right next to the source of the Big Bang - the source of infinity. Do you think this is a good time to think about how you are living up to your soul desires in this lifetime?

I find it amazing that the Galactic Center would be in Sagittarius – the seeker of universal truth. Think about it – the source of all is in the sign of truth. We all need to be finding our personal truth in life the sign of truth is holding the source of all knowledge. Gives you chills, doesn’t it?

For someone like me, born with her North Node in Sagittarius, this is a very special time to realign with current life’s goals and to see if I am following Sagittarius’ demand to find and speak the truth.

Take a minute to explore these wonderful photos of the Galactic Center and think about what it would be like to transcend this center of all universal truth. You don’t need a spaceship just the expansive power of your mind!

What Would the Moon Say?

yesnabyatorkneylandsend_small.jpg

I played a little game with my class at the Institute for Spiritual Development in Washington D.C. which I unofficially entitled "What would the Moon say?" I posed the scenario, what if a someone with a very strong Sagittarian influenced walked up each sign of the zodiac as it embodied the Moon and said something totally Sag. like, "Wow that dress makes you look like Orca!" You know how Sag. is about telling the truth - or I should say their truth. How would these Moons - our emotional barometers respond?

Aries wouldn't mince words. An Aries Moon would just deck Sag. with one well placed blow to the side of the mouth. Now if this Aries Moon were in a daintier body then the words would flow and flow and flow until Sag. was duly chopped up and humbled.

Taurus on the other hand would pull herself up to full height; straighten her dress (which is a bit snug over the bull's hips) and say. "I don't think you are right Sag. This dress is made from the finest of silkworms. I flew to China to oversee the spinning myself." She would then huff off comforting herself with a box of the finest of Swiss chocolates.

"This dress? This dress is too tight? Really? How can that be I researched the purchase of this dress for three weeks? I tried on 18 different dresses. I went to 7 stores and then...." As Gemini was still babbling on Sag. runs away in self defense.

"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa." Yes, that was Moon Child running off in tears. She will stay in her crab shell for weeks pouting and weeping.

Leo the Lions' reaction is a wee bit different. "HOW DARE YOU! I have more knowledge about dressing in my little paw then you have in your entire quiver Sag. Begone!" Sag darts out dodging mirrors from Leo's vast collection being tossed out at her.

Virgo doesn't respond just immediately becomes anorexic.

"Really? Really? I asked twelve people and weighed their responses very carefully. Then I asked twelve more - it took me twenty weeks to weigh everyone's opinion of what I should do. How could it be wrong? Libra's scales were wobbling back and forth with such a flurry Sag. thought a wind storm was in the offing.

Scorpio whipped off her dark glasses in a furor and starred silently into Sag's soul with such unbridled fierceness that Sag. was terrified for a week.

"Yeah well your hair looks like a home for drug addicted weasels."

"And your perfume smells like 'Ode De Goat.'"

"Your shoes are left-overs from the Von Trapp Family AFTER the clomped over the Alps."

Oh my - Sag. Vs. Sag. is an ugly sight.

Capricorn never looked up from her historical tome. Who cares about such nonsense as fashion? Sag. is so frivolous.

"Wow baby so you don't like my duds. That is cool. Hey we are all brothers and sisters under the skin where it counts. Coverings are like so superficial. It is all good." Insulting Aquarius was such a drag.

Pisces suddenly looked even sadder if that was indeed possible! "Oh I knew it would be terrible. I just can't pick out clothes." Pisces was so pathetic that for a minute Sag. said he would never insult another person again...or until another ugly dress came into view and the truth just had to be told.

How Pluto in Capricorn is WikiLeaks?

courtesy of Arlenew.com

Whatever you think of the whole Wikileaks thing whether it is treason or the height of patriotism -- from an astrological stand point it epitomizes the concept of Pluto in Capricorn. When Pluto moves into a new sign, something it does every 15 to 20 years, it brings change to society - to the world -- in the area that sign fuels. For instance, when Pluto was in Virgo in the early 1960's we saw the rise of environmental movement and the "feminization of the workplace." Virgo rules health and healthy eating and day to day work situations. When it later moved into Scorpio we saw the sexual revolution. Then when it went into Sagittarius we saw the rise of the "New Age" and spiritual movement. Each sign also has a shadow aspect - to every yin there is a yang.  The rise of fundamentalism was the shadow of Pluto in Sagittarius, AIDS the tragic shadow of Scorpio.

Pluto brings to the front those things that were hidden. Women came behind the apron with Virgo. People with different sexual persuasions did during Scorpio's reign and those with alternative religious beliefs during the spin in Sagittarius.

Now that it is in Capricorn we will see changes in structures that hold society together. First, we saw the collapse of the financial system, then, thankfully, we saw the election of the first African American President. What must come to the foreground now are those things that governments, banks and other authority figures wanted to keep hidden... ta da... Wikileaks.

Pluto just moved into Capricorn in 2008 and will be there until 2020 so it will be a long interesting ride. The  last time it was in Capricorn was during the American and French Revolutions. See what I mean?

Happy New Year all.

Be Sure You Are Awake Tomorrow Morning - December 21

between 3 -4 AM. It will be the best time to see the pink sky caused by the total lunar eclipse. It will be the first lunar eclipse on the winter solstice since 1638! It is also taking place when the Sun is at 28 degrees Sagittarius which is the location of the galactic center -- the spot where astronomers believe is the giant black hole remnant of the big bang.

A lunar eclipse happens when Sun and Moon are in opposition to one another so the Moon will be in Gemini. As I said last week, that is the axis of my North and South Node so this is a time of huge soul evolution for me. Even if this isn't the case for you with the Sun in the Sag. the truth seeker and the Moon in Gemini, the communicator - this would be a good time to evaluate your personal truth and your ability to express it.

Happy viewing, Happy Solstice!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA

Happy Birthday America. What? You thought a country can't have a birth chart? Well, I have to admit some of them are hard to find. Some countries that have been around since before dust was invented have no real known birth time. I mean, when did Egypt become Egypt for goodness sakes? However, our chart - that of the USA - is easy because we had a defined time when people signed a document saying - we are now a nation. Those founding fathers were so organized.

The ascendant, rising sign, of America - our outward personality feature - is Sagittarius. Makes sense - Sag. is the explorer and expansionist sign. It is the sign that keeps reaching and growing. The downside of Sagittarius is not knowing when to stop speculating or taking risks that are too large and cannot be sustained. We have seen this in economics as well as warfare.

Sagittarius is the sign of spirituality - and we are often called a religious nation. It also makes us prone to the shadow element and that is the dances we do periodically with religious fundamentalists. Does it surprise anyone that when Pluto was in Sagittarius for the last 15 years we saw the rise of the religious right and the president who was wedded to them?

The ruler of our Ascendant, Jupiter, is the 7th house - the house of "the other" and is in conjunction with the Sun and Venus. So we expand to the other and make ourselves known in the world. Venus helps us spread our art and music....our greatest export are movies. Mars is also in the 7th house - and so our warrior strength is also spread around - remember the 7th house deals with other people on rather intimate levels.

Uranus, the quirky changeable guy, is also in our 7th house. We are the nation that comes to the aid of others, yet dropped the atomic bomb - twice. We are based on the great ideas of the Constitution but do things like Iraq and Vietnam. Get the picture?

It always cracks me up that we have Virgo on the Midheaven (career and social status) and Vesta, the burning heart’s desire and ruler of Virgo in Virgo's 6th house - the house of work and health. Think of it - Virgo vibrates to the 6th house, and is ruled by Vesta. We have Virgo in the house of career - Virgo is all about precise work - being the worker bee - getting the job done. Vesta is in the 6th house - so our burning heart’s desire is to work! Gee, have we been the country of the worker? Are we known to be workaholics-italics? Did we invent the phrase "work ethic"? Too bad this astrology stuff is all hokum.

Neptune is also on the Mid Heaven. Neptune gives a person their spirituality but when it comes to the physical side of things Neptune creates illusion and delusion. So again, we have that very prominent spiritual aspect that we present to the world. However, how many times do we perceive ourselves in a totally different way than others do? To many Americans we are always the good guys with the white hats. We are shocked when we realize that in many parts of the world we are considered aggressors. We just can't see it. Growing up in North Jersey, the NY Yankees were gods to me. When I go back there I always laugh at the level of Yankee mania. It was stunned when I left the area to learn that the Yankees are hated by the other teams. Remember the play, "Damn Yankees?" Well it is a bit like that - we can't believe others see is in a different light than we perceive ourselves.

Now I am not really sure if a country can have a "past life" but take a look at our South Node. It is in Aquarius in the 2nd house - the house of self worth. Our North Node is in Leo the nightly lion in the house of power in the 8th house. I am not sure the purists would like this but I think a case could be made that this shows the change in the land that became America from a more Aquarian Native American society to the world dominating Lion American Nation. I am not one to buy into the idyllic concept that Native American society was utopia but you have to admit that they existed in a more laid back - less driven society than the white men who destroyed them. Their idea of what made a person worthy and ours is vastly different and while there were many inter-tribal wars, the concept of being a world military leader was not in their modes of operation.

Our Moon is in Aquarius - ruled by Uranus - the quirky guy. So we are rather touchy people. With the Moon conjunct Athena, the goddess of war AND healing (versatile lass) so again we are emotionally attached to this warrior and good guy image. Our Moon is also attached to Ceres, the ancient symbol of Mother Earth. Mother Earth - abundance - the breadbasket of the world -- get it? These images are at our emotional core.

It is funny, our Chronic wound issue, is in Aries in the 5th house - the house of creativity. We are known for work and growth and movement. Do we give a lot of credence to creativity? Not so much - we fear we are not powerfully creative people - we are the worker bees. :)

Of course, my buddy Pluto was in Capricorn at the time of our birth - and because it is so slow moving it is just NOW returning to Capricorn again. Reread my entry on Pluto being the changer and Capricorn being the ruler of authority figures. Sadly, we also saw the French Revolution at this time and it was an example of changing authority run amuck.

So there you go America - this is who we are - one big confusing mass of work, growth, meddlesomeness and change that you just have to love. I know I do. Happy Birthday to us all!
