The Battle of Pluto and Uranus

Recently, I have written a lot about the Grand Cross, and the Pluto- Uranus square and the implications they are having on American society. Pluto, the symbol of slow change, is in the staid and authoritarian sign of Capricorn. This placement demands change to what we called in the 60’s “The Establishment.”  Remember wherever Pluto ventures she brings change – she absolutely insists upon it. Now she is bringing her change to authority structures.

Uranus, the rebel, the element of electrically charged quick change, has recently journeyed into the cardinal sign of the warrior, Aries. Where Pluto takes her time and grinds out her demands of change. Uranus is like hello I am here and this is what is going to change right now. Therefore, you can see how these two in disharmony can make us humans a little batty!

With these two squared or in disharmony to one another for a very long time (2007 -2020), we have seen unrest, uprisings, and some major hits to once formidable institutions. The banking system collapse, the abuse scandals in the Catholic Church, the election of an African American president and the subsequent rise of the Tea Party are just some examples of this.

This movement into Aries is most interesting to me right now. Uranus in Aries is like a teenager in a sports car. At any moment, they can put their foot down and take off at 150 miles an hour refusing to see any danger. Remember the song, that anthem of the 60’s, “The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius”? Well, Aquarius is ruled by Uranus.

Uranus is saying, hey Pluto I do not like how slowly you are changing. I am not thrilled with the “one percent” getting richer; I am not thrilled that the middle class is stagnating.  You toppled the banking system but no one went to jail. Now let’s move along…faster!

The beginning of the populism movement that is making Senator Elizabeth Warren (D.-MA) a very appealing Presidential candidate in 2016 is just starting to take hold in America. I expect that to grow. The energy is there – how we use it is another story of course! Remember, the Tea Party and the whacks running around with the guns are a part of this Uranus energy – they do not like any authority. They want to bring “change” that will bring us back a few centuries. It is up to those of who want to precipitate positive change that includes women’s rights and gun safety to name a few, to harness Uranus to forge a future of truly positive change.

TIME FOR THE EQUINOX

March 20, 2014
12: 57 PM EDT

Happy Equinox all! This is the time when the Sun moves into the sign of Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac. It is no wonder that all of the major organized religions celebrate this time as a time of rebirth and renewal. Aries is the Baby of the Zodiac. It vibrates to the energy of the first house – the house of personality where we burst out and say hey world look at me. The Equinox brings forth the newness of spring – where we plant new seeds for change.

Plant the seeds now to burst forth with the person you want to be when the summer solstice comes around!

This year both Juno and Uranus in Aries are shadowing the Sun. This is great deal of volatile energy. Uranus in Aries is sending out energy that is almost daring us to be different. Juno, the goddess of loyalty, is conjuncting both Uranus and the Sun so we have no excuse – no excuse at all -- not to make important changes now.

Aries is Cardinal energy (leadership energy). We have the Sun, Juno, and Uranus all giving us the ability to initiate change in our life. Of course, someone still living in shadow and not working to become the best but looking to be negative can use this erratic energy to cause harm. I have spoken a lot about the Grand Cross and the negative energy that can come from it. However, if we are looking to harness the goodness of the universe to elevate ourselves – use the energy of these three powerhouses today.

I Will Say It Again - Uranus Square Pluto

OK I haven't a clue. That is my answer when someone asks me what is going to happen this week with the Washington mess. Astrologers are NOT fortune-tellers and if someone tells you they are, run away - run far away. All I will say is keep your eyes on that hard square between Retrograded Uranus and Pluto. Uranus is in Aries - the sign of unbridled male energy and warrior drive and it is retrograded meaning it is churning inward and misdirected - and OH LOOK where it is over Washington right now ---- it is on the cusp of the second house - the house of money and resources. Uranus is the planet depicted rebellious energy - quick change, hard to grasp energy. (So yes, it would be the sign of people trying to disrupt the social order.) But wait there is more... It squares - or makes a disharmonious aspect to Pluto, the slow and grinding change planet. And - I could NOT make this up - Pluto is in the 10th house, the house of government and authority structures- and is in Capricorn the sign that vibrates to the 10th house. Who will win this tug of war and what is winning? Is winning destroying American resources - to some it might be?
I take some hope looking at the biwheel of American and the current transits. That Uranus is in our 4th house - so yes they disrupting our "family" but Vesta/Ceres - in Virgo is sitting on the cusp of the 10th house. Vesta, the burning heart’s desire, and Ceres, the planet of the mother, nurturer - can come together to provide a balm. However, Vesta does not make it easy. So we will have some "paying of the piper" for appeasing the lunatic fringe - the people who want to destroy our country. I hate to depress you further but Saturn is about to move into the 12th house for America - that is a time that forces us to face what we have been avoiding. It essence it makes us comes to terms with our secrets, our inner fears and the lies we tell ourselves. IF we use that time to be honest about what these Tea Party haters are then perhaps, - perhaps - all of this pain will be worth it. However, even if we win we will lose – something.

Grand Cross 2014 - Doomsday???

I recently attended a seminar on the astrology and the chart of the United States. As I mentioned before, the US is coming into its first Pluto Return as a nation and Pluto is a planet that "makes you an offer you can't refuse - change or else!" With Pluto in our 2nd house of wealth, resources and financial stability it is no wonder that we are experience in great trauma around the banking industry, jobs and savings. When Pluto finally reaches the closest point with our natal Pluto around 2021 we will have undergone a major change in these areas. However, the question that begs is, what kind of change will that be?

Two of the speakers at this seminar, spent their entire segments painting a dire picture of effects of the April 23, 2014 grand cross. A grand cross is when four planets are in opposition to each other. In this case we will have retrograded Pluto in Capricorn opposing Jupiter in Cancer and Uranus in Aries opposing Mars in Libra. These planets will be in cardinal signs. There are three kinds of signs, mutable, cardinal and fixed. The mutable signs are easy going - go along and get along, The fixed signs have more stubborn in nature and cardinals are the movers the shakers, the doers. Hence, the doom and gloom - the god of War, the god of expansion, the god of quick change and the god of slow change all pulling against each other and in cardinal signs - each grasping for their piece of the pie!

Among the predictions are the collapse of the EU, the fall of the dollar, massive rioting in Spain, Greece and Syria and a new social order rising out of the economic disaster this cross will bring.

I don't know I am a bit skeptical. I mean Y2K, the Mayans - haven't we been doomed and gloomed before?  I will say that with Mars in the 2nd and Uranus in the 8th we can see some big movement by the 99 percent against the power of the 1 percent and some major economic upheaval..but is that always a bad thing? Yes, there could be some riots, there could be some economic issues but do I see the total collapse of the Western economic system? I don't think so.

We have been in a Uranus Pluto square for months and that will continue - which is why nothing has gotten done anywhere for a long time. Jupiter's expansion will break that energy. So something will happen - and it could be something big but they will have to go a little further to convince me to start hiding my pennies in the mattress.

Feeling Confused? Feeling Intense?

It is no wonder! This is one of the most bizarre charts I have seen in a along time! Right now - we have three major stelliums (or 5 or more planets in one sign) going on. There is the Pisces Stellium I spoke about last week - bringing us Pisces energy for Neptune, Mercury, Chiron, Venus and the Sun. We also have a Gemini Stellium with Ceres, Lillith, Vesta and Jupiter there - that is a lot of "girl energy in the communication sign - Mercury." Finally, we have Pallas, Uranus, Moon and Mars all in Aries. So think of it as three players at the table, chatty, girly Gemini, angry and emotional Aries and dreamy Pisces. It is no wonder no one can get along right now! We have three very distinct and widely varied energies all sort of forming alliances. To add more fun to all of this - we have taciturn and retrograded Saturn, the task master, making aspects to all three!

Don't expect much in the way of break-throughs in Washington or elsewhere until these Stelliums start to break. Saturn is telling all of them to stick to their principles...Aries is demanding to have their way - as Aries does. Gemini is just saying - see I have all of the information and Pisces is looking to the sky to escape the whole mess.

Hang on - this will start to break up toward the end of the month!

Uranus in Aries -

I was asked to expand on the meaning of Uranus in Aries which I mentioned in last week's blog. Uranus moved into Aries in 2011 and will remain there until 2018.  Uranus energy is quick and rebellious and demands change. Uranus also controls electricity and is very much energy on the "cusp of the future."
Uranus has no time for now - it is always looking for what is coming down the pike.

Uranus - and the sign it controls Aquarius, is very interested in humanitarian activity. The irony is that Aquarians can be very detached from individual people but are great lovers of mankind.

The shadow of Uranus is unsettling change, uncontrolled rebellion and erratic motion. It is hard to control lightening in a bottle.

Aries, of course, is the ancient god of war and the archetype is male, aggressive energy. Aries is a Cardinal sign, the sign of the leader and serves a necessary role in giving us our drive, energy and ego. However, the shadow of Aries is ego-centricity and even violence.

This period while Uranus is in Aries should bring us advances in humanitarian causes- people willing to really take up the causes of those less fortunate. I also predict that electronics will take off even more than they have been in recent years.

Unfortunately, we will experience more violence like the shootings in Colorado and Connecticut and perhaps even some erratic dictators on the loose.

The last time Uranus was in Aries was 1927 – 1935 in which we saw the following events:

Rise of Third Reich
Depression
The Rise of Mahatma Gandhi
Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh

Another Shift - Uranus Moved Into Aries

All of the major outer planets have shifted from one constellation to another since 2008 - and you were wondering why we all feel a little off balanced!

One of the most fascinating - and potentially dangerous shifts is for the rebellious planet of Uranus' move into Aries, the sign that is the archetype of raw, male energy.  Uranus hates stagnation - it loves to shake things up and throw out the old and the stale.

Using that Aries energy to shake off things about yourself that you don't like - to really make New Year's resolutions stick. If you feel like you are "jumping out of your skin" to change and do something - go with it. Look at your chart and see where Uranus is by natal placement and by transit and then get to work on those areas.

However, when you combine rebellion and unbridled male energy you can sometimes get dire results. Sadly, especially when it is squaring Pluto as Uranus is now, we might see more Aurora's - more Newtown's. People pushing others onto subway tracks - people acting out are all the shadow of this placement.

It isn't the Moon!

Several people have asked me this week if the goofiness they are feeling is due to a full moon. Nope, the moon isn’t full right now…the culprits lie in a tight conjunction between Mars, the communicator, and Uranus, the quick change artist, both in Aries. When these two come together communications are subject to sudden stops and starts. You can also hear people making outlandish statements and wild promises and there can be a great deal of aggressive speech going on. All of this is courtesy of the wild energy and rebelliousness of Uranus. Mars will move out soon so this won’t last much more than a few days. But then the full moon will be in full swing! 

Make Friends With Uranus - Because He Is About To Go

Loopy! On January 20th the Sun will enter the constellation Aquarius ruled by the planet Uranus. Uranus is the only planet that rotates on its side so you get some idea of what the archetype is for Aquarius --- the rebel, the change agent. The other side of Aquarius is a sense of universal brotherhood, a  love of freedom. It also rules electricity and electronics.

Uranus itself has just entered Aries - the sign of the take charge warrior. For the next several years we are going to see an explosion of freedom movements around the world - some that will be violent, sadly. We will also have advances in electronics that will make even the last few years like the horse and buggie days.

Also watch for that "quest for freedom" and be my friend but don't get too close to happen in relationships...you might see some folks break up that you will never expect that to happen to!

Just expect the unexpected - in spades!

Solstice Time

I love winter Solstice  - it is a time of rebirth in the midst of stillness and "death" and is the ultimate of optimistic universal events. This year the Solstice will actually take place around 12:30 AM on the 22nd of December. That is when the Sun moves into 0 degrees Capricorn.  Looking at the Solstice chart I am seeing alot of unsettled energy around Uranus and Pluto (which will be hugging the Sun for at least the first week into the Solstice.)

Now I tend to be a wee more pessimistic than some - that is the Scorpio Sun in me. I had a discussion with another astrologer today who sees this chart as some kind of awakening where people come together and put aside some differences in a Christmas week sing around the Christmas tree like a bunch of Whos.  He actually said politicians may come together and do something good for America! Silly boy.

I see it is something "big" happening between the 26th and 29th - some group or person pushing the limits so much that more than just the "Occupiers" will want to do something. I see the Uranus square Sun/Pluto as a real explosive energy and the Neptune, Vesta, Chiron conjunction in Aquarius being the "birth" of a new cooperative energy but from the ground up not the top down.

So sit tight and see who eats crow just before the new year.

Happy Holidays ALL!!

Uranus has moved into Aries.

We have recently seen yet another slower, outer planet shift into another sign. I have already talked about Neptune moving into Pisces and Pluto heading into Capricorn, now we have Uranus moving in Aries. Uranus takes about seven years to move through one sign. Contrast that to Mercury which makes it through all twelve in eighty-eight days!

Uranus is the sign of quick change - it is the rebel. I liken Uranus to the teenager of the Zodiac because it hates status quo and likes to shake things up as it explores new opportunities. Like a teenager who can turn a house on end in a minute by tossing clothes about as soon as they enter the door, leaving the refrigerator door opened and blaring loud music, Uranus brings upheaval whether you are ready or not.

Like youth, Uranus also has a humanitarian side. It isn't jaded yet like Saturn and Pluto and sees the beauty in every person. Uranus really cares about humanity and wants to help all humans.

So now we have the teenager meeting the baby - Uranus meeting the infant of the zodiac - the raw aggressive energy of Aries. If there was ever a time to change - to finish a project or start one or to analyze a relationship. Be spontaneous- take a trip on the spur of the moment, learn Russian.

Like all teenagers, Uranus is a techno-geek - so expect another explosion of gadgets and widgets in the next seven years.

However, remember that teens are prone to explosions and irrational anger. So watch for impulsive, erratic energy.

It is important to look at your chart and see what Uranus/Aquarius Aries/Mars activate - control the energy and you will make great headway in these areas.  (Countries can also have these planets in strategic areas of their charts so watch for eruptions around the world.)

Everyone please breathe!

predawnfog_small.jpg
courtesy or Arlenew.com

My friend Arlene - whose paintings and photos you see here has a tag line on all her emails which reads, "Take care and breathe."  I tease her about going Los Angeles on us but I think we should all listen to her right now.

First, we have the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Lilith and Uranus all in Aries right now, the sign of unbridled male energy. It is a great time to start new projects and chart new courses. However, it is a also a time where we can make impulsive and wrong headed decisions on the spur of the moment. Think of it as all of these planets experiencing road rage. So if these planets are falling in your 7th house you might suddenly decide to make changes to your business or marriage relationships. They might sound good at the moment but after thinking about it for a day or two you realize those changes are disastrous.

Also on April 5 and 6 the Moon will be void of course. When a body moves from one sign to another  - when it is 27 degrees in one sign to 3 degrees in the next - it is considered void of course - a little off kilter. Because the Moon moves so quickly it is void of course a few days every month. This is a time when our emotions may be a little hinky.

If you couple void of course Moon with all of this male Aries energy flying around it could lead to some serious mistakes. So please everyone for the next week or so - breathe first act second!

Uranus is now in Aries - Will Progressives Hear It?

moth_small.jpg
courtesy of Arlenew.com

Ok kids all excuses are now mute - Uranus is in Aries and will live there for the next seven years. Think of that balance of energy - Uranus the rebel, the harbinger of the unexpected mixing with Aries the epitome of raw, warrior energy! Wow. It is a cliché but I have to say it, "Expect the unexpected." Remember that Uranus is the only planet that orbits the Sun on its side not up and down. Is that goofy or what? Notice I didn't say it would bring "good" or "bad" things - just new and different. Whatever happens it is best to accept it and grow.

The most exciting part about this for me is that I think people will become more energized to work for the betterment of humanity. I truly believe that the days of a few trying to funnel the money of the middle class to the rich, the days of the left being cowed to stay silent while the radical right destroys our economy and works hard to bring us back to the dark ages socially may finally run their course. Uranus has a heart - it is the humanitarian of planets and the sign it rules, Aquarius, supports group activities on behalf of social betterment.

With Neptune soon moving into Pisces and bringing that sense of the "little guy" standing up against all odds and this crusading energy of Aries fueling Uranus we should see a rejuvenation of the progressive sensibility. If the left doesn't mobilize now they never will because they also have Pluto still in Capricorn - demanding change in authority structures and bringing secrets to light.

The stars are aligned kids; you have to do the rest!
